Description

Chief embarks on his latest adventure on the Forerunner world, Requiem. I've wanted to draw some Halo for a while. It took the reveal of the official Halo 4 boxart to finally give me a little insipiration to do so. I didn't have a lot to go on for reference; other than the boxart, I used a few bits of concept art, and the (thankfully highly detailed) Halo 4 'hog from Forza's Autovista.

I look forward to drawing more in the future as they reveal more for me to actually draw. :D

(Edit: Just watched the E3 2012 gameplay reveal, will definately get to drawing some of the new stuff soonish)

Time taken 30-35 hours (Roughly, I wasn't really keeping track)

There is a great contrast between hot and cold colour in this piece, going from the dusty reds on the bottom left to the cool and clear blues in the top right, and this was the first thing that took my attention. The second thing was the great detail and punchy light that you created here that gave it a lot of depth and detail. The technique used in this is great, with the center piece (the warthog and spartan) in the forefront with great detail, and the background left implied rather than detailed, with the classic painterly feel to it that gives digital art good grounding. Though aspects of the piece was taken from reference (hence the half star off) I feel that this did not take away from the overall originality of the piece that much. In conclusion I think that all of these features create a punchy and deep picture, with plenty of movement and life.
